Macomb County Community Mental Health Logo

Macomb County Community Mental Health is the public provider of mental health, substance use and developmental disability treatment services in Macomb County Michigan. If you want guidance and help for yourself or someone you care about, a phone call during business hours is a great way to start. During our first conversation, we can provide guidance and information that will simplify your first visit. When you call our customer service line at 855-99-MCCMH (855-996-2264), have your insurance information ready, if you don’t have insurance don’t worry, it’s not required. Please prepare to spend some time with us, as these initial conversations can take up to a half hour to complete.

Anyone seeking suicide or mental health-related crisis support for themselves or someone they know, can connect with a trained counselor by calling, or texting, 988. This shorter phone number helps simplify access to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline crisis response system. More information can be found here: https://988lifeline.org

Mental Health First Aid Training

Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. The training gives you the skills to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis.

This training is for those who are not clinicians and does not offer CEs

WHY: Mental health challenges – such as depression, anxiety, psychosis and substance use – are common in the United States. In fact, more than one in five Americans will have a mental health problem in any given year. The National Council for Mental Wellbeing certifies individuals throughout the nation, including Macomb County CMH, to provide Mental Health First Aid courses to prepare their communities with the knowledge and skills to help individuals who are developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps the public better identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses in youth and adults.

Our Information and Assistance telephone line is available Monday through Friday, from 8 am through 5 pm at (800) 852-7795 or you can email us here. It gives older adults and their families a place to turn when they have questions or need to find resources to help a senior or person with a disability. It’s staffed by compassionate people who know all about the organizations, programs, benefits  and services available to assist seniors, people with disabilities and family caregivers here in the six counties we serve (Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair and Washtenaw). Our database gives us access to thousands of senior-focused organizations and programs. We are an unbiased guide and a trusted resource—helping families find, navigate and understand the programs and services available to help them—whether those are programs offered directly by AgeWays or programs offered by other local organizations.

LEADERSHIP. Join a committee, council or our board of directors to help lead and shape our work. We also offer opportunities to serve as role models for girls and young women.

EDUCATION. We offer professional development programs for women at all stages of their careers from our flagship program, Executive Leadership, to a variety of targeted programs for emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, veterans, and aspiring board members. We also offer a collaborative program with the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

Common Ground

Common Ground’s mission is to offer help, healing, and recovery to people in crisis, helping individuals and families move from crisis to hope throughout Michigan.  Common Ground serves over 165,000 people annually through programs spanning the state, including 988 Michigan Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (MiCAL), virtual Behavioral Health Urgent Care, crisis stabilization, and resiliency centers in the Oxford and east Lansing communities, opened after mass violence events.  Most services are available 24/7/365, and no one is turned away; the generosity of donors and businesses is essential to ensure all those in need of help have access to care.  Be it suicide prevention, working with survivors of mass violence, helping victims of violent crime, or providing virtual behavioral health urgent care, Common Ground is nationally recognized for its crisis expertise, working locally on the front lines of crisis care.  Common Ground: Helping people move from crisis to hope.  For more information, visit https://commongroundhelps.org/ or contact Anne Bradley, Director of Development, at [email protected] or 248-451-3733.

Dutton Farm empowers and supports adults with disabilities to live a life of purpose, inclusion, and dignity. Our Adult Education program provides instruction in horticulture and animal care, focusing on the skills of consistency, detail, and understanding to teach daily living and prevocational skills. Our Community Involvement activities allow participants to engage with others through farm consumerism excursions, field trips, and community events. Our Workforce Development sessions are based on a person-first model that connects participants with employers who are offering opportunities that most closely align with the participants’ goals, strengths, and needs. Our vision is to create a just world of dignified inclusion for every person in our communities. Become a Michigan Veteran Connector Today

In 2022, the MDOC was designated as an MI Veteran Connector with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. As an MI Veteran Connector, we partner with the MVAA to help Veterans self-identify as Veterans by promoting resources for benefits, suicide prevention, links to the VA, and all other resources that can help our MDOC Veteran community. Becoming a Veteran Connector symbolizes an organization's commitment to proactively support and connect service members, veterans, and their family to earned benefits. The MVAA is home to the Michigan Veterans Resource Service Center, which can be reached at 1-800-MICH-VET. They guarantee someone can take your call 24/7 to help connect you to education, health care, and other benefits or services you earned through your service. New Day Foundation for Families is the only nonprofit in Michigan providing both financial assistance and emotional support to families navigating any type of cancer, anywhere in the state. New Day pays critical living expenses directly to creditors to cover housing, utilities, transportation, groceries and other essential household expenses, while also providing emotional support to cancer patients and their family members. Hospitals and cancer centers statewide rely on New Day to support families suffering a significant loss of income due to a cancer diagnosis. New Day is a Charity Navigator 4-star nonprofit, Platinum Level Guidestar organization and top-rated nonprofit by Great Nonprofits.
 

No family should fight cancer alone or make unthinkable choices between medical treatment and providing basic necessities. New Day works with hospitals and cancer centers across Michigan to reach patients before they hit critical financial or emotional breaking points. New Day is dedicated to removing the financial obstacles — loss of income and increased expenses — standing between cancer patients and their treatment.
